Thing 8

I have just discovered Creative Commons (CC). I was unaware that this existed. This will greatly affect our students and us as educators as well. Seeing the CC will mean permission has already been granted although some rights may be reserved. The possibilities for an outstanding product increase when you are able to build on the creative genious of others.

Thing 4

I have been learning about my reader. One site that I have been following is K-12 Learning. It has good ideas for math lessons, such as activities to do with The Polar Express.

Thing 3

Today I explored many blogs. Will Richardson's "What Did You Create Today?" struck a cord with me. He has thought provoking questions that he would like to ask his children about what they learn each day.

I am amazed at how quickly technology is changing. For our students this is common place. It is the world they live in. I want to 'change my thinking' to enter their world. I have the desire, but am challenged by new technology. I appreciate those willing to give their time to mentor others.

Reflections from Day 1

Being part of a 21st Century team will definitely stretch my little world. There is so very much I don't know. I am excited about working with others who want to expand the horizons for ourselves as well as our students. The world that our children will live in has not even been imagined. We must find a way to educate in order to prepare them for challenges that we have never experienced or even dreamed of. Advances in technology are happening so quickly in the world! It's time for education to mirror that change.
